I’ve been making feather flowers for a while now but when I ran across this 1854 Wedding Hair Wreath on the V&A on-line collections site I started making really tiny feather flowers.

The first one I made was this yellow wreath I made three or 4 different types of flowers and leaves but I ran out of time on this one so instead of covering the entire wreath with flowers I added bows and some dangling bits. I got the idea from period paintings that seemed to have dangling bits along the bottom edge.

This is how the wreath looked before I sewed on the dangling bits and before the flowers and the bow loops.

Here is a nice picture of Laurie Tavan modeling the hair wreath.

Then I wanted to make one that used some of these beads I had that are suppose to make a bracelet.

This is the finished wreath with a chignon inside. This style is what I’m teaching right now.

I still working on making tiny feather flowers here is another set of flowers. This style is what I’m teaching right now.

And the finished wreath.

I’m now working on making tiny feather flowers for use on feather fans in the style that was popular in the Gilded Age. They were mostly imported from Brazil. And had stuffed Hummingbirds and Beatles.

Also hair ornaments for evening hair styles.
