A straw broom is a decoration done with 4 whole straws and a length of straw thread. The straw does need to be soaked to soften. Besides the straw you will need a large eyed sewing needle, a large pearl headed pin, some sharp scissors and some strong sewing thread (nylon or button and carpet).
This is another examples where the angle of cut on the straws is steeper and there is more wrapping of the base of the brim with perhaps thicker straw thread. But it was made the same way.
