26″ Soft Sculpture Fashion Doll
My niece with Elizabeth at Faire. Above the doll in full dress. Along with her under-pinnings pictured below she has a silk organza partlet, silver lace ruffs at both neck and wrist.
The body pattern for this doll is my own. The patterns for the clothing from corset to French gown came from many sources. I find that books with scale patterns work best for doll clothing. Books like “Corsets and Crinolines”, Hunnisette’s “Patterns for Theatrical Costumes” and Janet Arnold’s Patterns in Fashion” in this case I used them all. I took the patterns from books. Unlike the Highlander outfits for this body pattern I could not publish the clothing patterns because I took them from the published sources,above all I did was scale them to fit the doll. All the patterns were close in size because they came from books with scaled down patterns. Usually it was just a few percent up in size. With the bodice and sleeves ending up the same size as in the Phoenix bodice and sleeve pattern in Janet Arnold’s book. I used it at 100% and it fit perfect! I made her hair with faux mohair it is great for tight curls. There are instructions for the hair in my doll body pattern.
