Straw splitters from the Straw Shop. If you are not buying already twisted straw threads.
Rye straw stems in natural color or dyed.
Using the 6 splitter.
For threads pick some of the thinner straws in the package, you will need thin splints to make find threads. Start with damp straw. Press a straw into the center.
Push it thru the center so that it comes out the other side with 6 even pieces.
You need to hold the cutter with one hand and the straw with the other and push the straw gently and evenly thru. When they are at least 1/2 way thru you can grab them at the other end and pull them the rest of the way.
